Layout of Museum display showcases

During March, the layout and themes for three of the new galleries were agreed; the museum designers and the Curator chose artefacts from the collection to go inside each glass showcase.

Each piece was chosen because of their importance and link to the theme of each gallery – Maritime Heritage, Island Spirit and Island Life.

The objects were laid out, to make sure everything fits and sits well together, they were catalogued and technical drawings for each case produced with precise measurements. Each item is then protected and boxed up ready to be cleaned or receive further conservation work.
