Project Timeline

The project is currently in the delivery stage, which means we are working on the actual renovation and refurbishment of the building.

We have recieved funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. In December 2022, we were awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund R1 Development Grant, allowing us to detail proposals for a project with total NLHF costs estimated at £9m.

We have also received funding from Arts Council England, Cornwall and IOS Shared Prosperity Fund and Cornwall and IOS LEP.

Development of the plans

Our development stage - where we made plans, appointed our contractors and partners, secured funding and consulted with the community - took place in 2022-2023.

Work started on site in 2024, and we regularly post updated on our news page about the progress of the building work. We also have to report to our funders about how the project is moving forward.

Our plan is to open our doors in Autumn 2026, allowing our community a good opportunity to enjoy the new Museum and Cultural Centre and then we will open fully by Spring 2027.
