Young Curators Explore the Future of Our Town Hall Museum
Our Young Curators represented Five Islands with exceptional maturity and enthusiasm during their recent visit to the Town Hall redevelopment site. The group were outstanding ambassadors throughout the day, taking a keen and active interest in the progress of this landmark project.
In an unforgettable experience, all students climbed four floors of scaffolding to view the impressive roof trusses and gain a unique perspective on the scale of the work underway. The team at Stepnell’s provided an extensive and highly informative tour, showcasing the extraordinary transformation taking place across the building.

Students were excited to hear about the future plans for the new galleries, auditorium, and café. It was particularly inspiring for the group to visualise the exact location where their own project, a curated vitrine exploring the history of medicine and health on the islands, will eventually be installed. Working closely with Ms Barrs, Xavier and the wider design team, the Young Curators are gaining first-hand insight into how museum exhibitions develop from early concept to final installation.
A special thank you goes to Jeremy Brown for his support and communications in enabling this experience, and to Stepnell’s for generously facilitating the visit. Stevie and Nimmo provided a safe, engaging, and exceptionally well-guided tour, and we are very grateful for their time and expertise.
What a fantastic group of enthusiastic, curious, and dedicated learners. Well done Millie, Lowena, Bella, Amelia, Millie, Cory and Charlotte!
